Alegria Child Care program is relationship-based, I believe it is fundamental to understand our students as an individual and whole, in order to determined how best develop learning. We are centered on building trust by creating a safe environment that promotes mutual respect and cultivates positive behaviors between students, teachers, and families. We promote problem-solving and independence, focus on their developmental domains by offering age-appropriate activities, while allowing them to be in control of their own learning and exploration
My curriculum is designed to develop self-esteem, fine and gross motor skills, and eye-hand coordination by promoting cognitive, language and critical thinking through problem-solving. I do this by allowing children to be children in a loving extended home environment providing age-appropriate activities that creates self-worth and the ability to interact with others to produce positive outcomes.
I started working with children in 1996 as a history teacher at a Montessori school in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. In 1999 I immigrated to Marin County and began working as a childcare provider working with infants, toddlers, and school-aged children. In 2011 I decided to open Alegria Child Care to apply my experience and knowledge in an in-home daycare setting. In 2024 I received my A.S. from College of Marin in early childhood development. Since I opened Alegria Child Care, I have used direct experiences and theoretical knowledge to create an emergent curriculum based on hands-on activities, learning through play, encouraging creativity and exploration. My program incorporates Relationship-based Approach to build self-esteem, support diversity, gender differences and physical limitations.
